Overview
By using state of the art computer features S-Tech Library System greatly eases the tedious job of maintaining books and any other documents in a library. Every document in the library is tagged with a unique barcode, which can either be produced in-house or bought from third-party vendors. S-Tech Library System then turns the process of borrowing and lending of materials into fast and easy task.
Product Features
S-Tech Library System offers many features – some of which may be optional, depending on the customer’s needs.
Members
Each member is assigned an ID, based on his/her IC. The member is then given a card, which is scanned whenever the member borrow or return a certain material. There is thus no need to key in the member’s name.
There is an option to automatically remove member names from the database if the member has not borrowed any materials for a certain period of time (defined by user). This is to facilitate removal of members who are no longer around.
Circulation of materials is made by scanning barcodes. Every material is attached with a unique barcode – even in the case of, for eg, two books with the same title.
Borrow
All items to be borrowed will require the member ID (IC card) to be scanned first. The materials to be borrowed are then scanned.
Return
Returns require no member ID to be scanned, as the computer already knows to whom the material has been loaned to. The materials to be returned are scanned and the computer updates their status automatically.
Operator
The person operating the circulation will have to enter his ID and password every time he enters the circulation mode. His/her name will be printed on each borrowing receipt.
Receipt
A receipt will be printed every time a borrowing is complete. The receipt will have information of the book, the name and ID of the borrower, the date and time of borrowing and the operator’s name.
An extensive search facility is provided to search for titles or authors. The search will provide information on the total quantity of the material owned by the library and the amount available for loan. The search function can be loaded on the network PC to facilitate searching the books from a PC.
Each individual material requires a unique barcode. To ease the entry of multiple identical material a quantity field is first entered and their corresponding barcodes range to be used.
Information such as cost price and supplier can also be entered.
Stock check allows for physical inventory check.
A listing of materials available in the library can be printed, arranged by author, title, category, intended audience or media type.
An outstanding borrowers list report is also available.
Reports are also available to identify most popular materials in the library over any specified period of time.
Optional Features
S-Tech Library System has an add-on wireless stock check module, which shall make stock check very easy. Stocks can be loaded on a Windows CE PDA, which has a Laser Barcode Scanner attached to it. The PDA, which can easily holds up to 10 0000 items on it, is then used to perform stock check.
Library System has its own built-in Purchasing module to order books or any
other materials directly from a supplier.
